We are just learning of a lawsuit that was filed against the city of LA and the head of the police department’s Professional Standards Bureau. The lawsuit, filed by an LAPD police captain, alleges that she was sexually harassed after “the department failed to take immediate actions to stop distribution of a nude photo purporting to be her but was not.”
The police captain says she suffered from physical as well as mental and emotional injuries and that her reputation was damaged due to what happened.
At the center of all of this is a sexually explicit photo in which people claimed was her but was not. The photo was widely distributed to other LAPD employees, often with derogatory messages about her in a text. The lawsuit claims that the department did not take steps to protect her once it was reported.
